Elegant is the right word. A wee bit formulaic, but I buy it. Well-structured and defined but still leaves itself plenty open.
And well yeah, Tuymans, but I think this Pamela person stands well on her own. She's really owning these landscapes.

Painter, If you feature non NY painters could you say so because I and others wont know the difference.

Will do Regi. I actually don't know where this artist lives but she is in the show at Monya Rowe that Amy Sillman curated.

You dont know the difference because NY painters are so cosmopolitan, dude. Its like Esperanto, only cooler.

Watercolo is great, but a lot of the watercolor I see is for shit craft wise. maybe thats a point, but I still prefer the crafty, all things being equal.

Streatch your paper, for one. How hard is it to apply a little water to your surface beforehand? Or is it that your eagerness to paint precludes such preparation?

Leaving white space - try it, you might like it, as in this wonderfull, sensitive and poetic watercolor.

But boring. Mark Tansey has ideas. One time I saw a painting of his where the landscape was made up of text, like concrete poetry, and Sherlock holmes or derrida or whoever were dueling over the precipice of meaning. It would be great as an album cover.

Could we get some abstract watercolors so I can bathe in the feeling? Because after the idea, what else is there but the moody blues?

I thought that Mamma's paintings did have ideas. What about all those skewed perspectives ?

Topography moves toward abstraction. Seems to be painted nicely. Will have to go see it. Any good openings tonight?

I think the AAF is keeping things quiet? I dunno. I wouldna open today unless I was hoping for run-off, and who wants that kind of accidental street riff-raff?

closeup- allways a fave

I dont know why it doesnt bore me. God complex maybe.

Opening Reception: Friday, June 16, 6-8 pm Drawing Center, to low key for me on a friday, - sounds a little hippy.

if my calculations are correct as 2morrow is the more 'open opening' for sure then tonight should be the glamor night for DaDA at MoMA...

Mark Kostabi will love the fact that people are talking about him.
His work is awful on so many levels,
formaly, design, content, it is just visual masterbation.

Kostabi is all about ego.
He is a sick person, I once read and piece writen by him in which he was so desprate to get into the opening at the New MOMA that he somehow snuck in and hid in the mens room for hours. What a sad person he is.

Mind you he does give good advice on how to "make it" if you want to end up like Kostabi, which can't be all to bad, lives in Roma, Italy.
Still... his work is like bad motel art.

the tv show. "name that painting" is a slightly redeeming feature. He is interesting as a performer.

How did MK start to dominate this thread? Maybe that says more about current market / Art conditions then not.

chicomacho put your hands out, or flippers or spinners or whatever you have. DO not speak of people with business plans who claim to be artists! Or artists for whom art is a business plan! Do not speak of plans!

This would be better if it was done in black mold or some form spore. Been done, I know, but not by me, you know?
