I think these contemporize the ancient art of collage.

Reminds me of band posters, which are amazingly simular to the more refined band posters of trained artists.

Formal analysis aside, im into pin up girls, death, Death, El Santo, El Barrio, and collage in general.

My mom used to draw on magazine covers - It looked like fun so I started doing it too. Then she stopped. Ball point pen works great. Colored pencil not so satisfying - something about the quality of the line but mostly how hard you had to press to make a mark.

Awesome caduceus shaped cobra in the top image. Finally something worth ripping off.

Its interesting trying to make iconic images - stuff worth stealing (I like the cadeucis too).

People seem to like the skull and crossbones a lot, still, I see them everywhere.

I noticed "image drift" in school too.

Jungian subconscious?

I was sorting papers today and I found a coloring book image of Snow white - got it from someone who I think was into Sigmar Polke - the thing is I colored in her nose and eyes like a skull (Im a fucking genius).

...and is mexican wrestlng *really* so cool...
Or is it the cooless of Detournment speaking...
Through a culture that appreciates cool reaction...
When it is only *Reaction* that matters?

Latino soap operas for instance... Beyond kitch.
High culture likey.

Because it is beyond them.

Los Super Elegantes.

Kitch but cool.

Cool but Kitch?

i've a hard time telling the difference.

Detournment. Another word for pop's ability
to co-opt the dead (?). Um isn't that hollywods job?

Oh no -- it's that thing about turning the master's
tool against... oh forgot... that didn't work...

Historical Detournment has paved the way
of it's own Detournment. This time, it may be
a matter of fashion rather than urgency.

I feel such about the chapmans sometimes.

But these seems more honest. More tied to
the original.,

You can tear down the master's house using the the master's tools. Lourde was wrong. And why ripoff when when you can rip and twist. Fuck it up.

Dr lakra seems to be making a loving connection with the popular art of the 40s and 50s. This is no detournment. This art never represented power--quite the opposite.
