I like fast food and I like arches. Archness. Yellow and orange are colors that are supposed to excite the appetite - not sure what Kandinski has to say on the subject. Something about drama and palm reading I think.
I eat at mcdonalds or worse all the time and I am usually not "sick" and I have never "thrown up" but I do know people who have not had meat in a while who got sick.
I wonder why people allways pick on McDonalds or fast food. Surely there is ripe material in sommoliers, cheese experts and chefs of all stripes?
Maybe it is because McDonalds represents the Other, wherever you are from - the alienation of the corporate nation and economies of scale.
Whatever, it is pretty boring, at face value and no amount of dime store arte-pauvre theatrics is/are going to change the essential nature of the beast.
go see the show. on it's own, this painting is kind of interesting.. but there are 44 of them in the show, all packed together. sort of diffuses the mission. i didn't get it at all.
I used to get french crullers from Meserole Donuts on Manhattan ave in greenpoint - will do again, sjust havent recently... best bagels Ive had are on Metropolitan off the graham stop - relatively new but older than the dunkin donuts there - the bagel shop has a "french toast" bagel whcih I heard is good. Place is fukin busy.
ever hear of deep fried gap shirts? this painting is much better than those, at least i'm confused. it makes me confused and tired, much like a bic mac does.
I think there is some depth to these paintings despite the utter simplicity.
They mine the packaging and consumer design field for forms that have been commodifed and turned into symbols. Each of these forms are then reconstituted, making them a representation of an abstraction.
While a couple of them do get bogged down with "retro fever," I don't get a sense they are fiercely negative comments on our beloved "fast food nation." I see them more as landscape paintings instead.
Have I got the tip for you. The absolute best donuts are at The Garden Grill, off of Graham Ave. on the L line (central Williamsburg). Between Metropolitan and Devoe. Don't bother with the jelly-filled or eclair donuts... they're average. Get all the cake-based and glazed donuts. You won't be disappointed. They get their donuts from some crazy donut-master who delivers them every morning. I don't know if the same guy supplies any other restaurants, but his stuff is amazing. Enjoy.
After mass donuts - my brother told me about them when I was three so I went to church with my Mormon friend. No donuts, just a picture of Jesus at sunday school. Dissillusioned by first grade.
Another good raison d'etre for church is the Giglio dance - i think its tomorrow starting at one. THe carnival part is ongoing, seven oclock at night mostly.

You have to live.
I think people pick on McDs cause the food tastes terrible. So does this painting.
You have to eat.
You eat at McDonalds all the time!
you'll die of a heart attack by the time your 40 - 45.
The painting does nothing for me, its boring and yes deep fring it would be an improvment.
In Glasgow(Scotland) they deep fry pizzas and mars bars...
i like this, on-line, much better than the arch one below.
the one below has content. This one doesnt have so much content, becoming more of a greenbergian yawn fest.
I love donuts.
