Hey, congrats, Painter! Too bad the blurb was so snipey about artblogs in general, though.

I like this painting, onscreen at least! Must go see. I like the drawing-like markmaking and the strangeness of the orange "zones."

D'oh! I didn't even register that it's a face until now. Need coffee.

This painting is actually from 2004. This is the only painting of hers I've seen with a trace of figuration. I like the numbers. Somebody has been looking at architectural plans or spaces. Beautiful painting.

BB and The Dad I don't see a connetion between Sillman an Greenbaum at all. Sillman is a whole different soulful machine.

Is this painting up somewhere? It's on the Saatchi website as a work from '04....

the best I've seen. Could have been made by tossing change ontot he canvas like a duchamp sort ofthing. Or something. Yeah, I could live with it.

I'm fond of making interlocking shapes - its my default possition as a matter of fact - so to me this feels like the default - markmaking for the hell of it, and why the fuck not.

Might frustrate some drunks though not this one.

as carson said on the 1st season of queer eye (i dont watch anymore)--everybody loves a pearl necklace...

circle with a dot in the middle is a symbol for god

i see overlap and interpenetrate, interlock? maybe a little

things just keep getting better.

Its getting harder and harder to look like no one else these days, what with mixed race marriages and cloning.

Speaking of cloning I wasnt talking about DNA type interlocking, like where caffeine unzips your mood swing genes. I was talking more like the zipper on your pants, and how it breaks, or the keychain, so all the culture goes bouncing across the floor.

I've used this kind of cluttered/simple composition before and I like it. Its a container thing - and its all about containment, or the continual framing of a container, or the futility thereof.

Remember rotary phones?

JG is a teetotaler? Everything is illuminated!

Ill agree with you there--that the non composition is what you want to go after. But I find this Greenbaum way more conventionally composed than a Sillman.

I also like the pack of birth control pills in the top right corner. Like when you get so drunk you fall off the barstool and everything in your purse including your birth contol pills goes flying across the floor. yea its illuminating
