YEAH!!!!!! Medrie made into the painter pantheon. Very cool. Very desert-dead and circus-happy.

Looks nice on Wendy's also.

Weird! I don't know this artist.

She has a show up at Michael Steinberg. Really great.

I had meant to post her sooner, but got side tracked. I hope her show is still up.

sorry, she may be a nice person and quite popular, but the paintings feel flat, especially those colored grounds are just dead.

yeah, not crazy about the backgrounds, but the rest is kind of interesting.

Dead, but maybe that's part of it? I don't know. Just asking.

the surfaces are not dead, they're actually quite luminous - you should look at the work in person and not rely on a jpeg to formulate your opinion about this stuff.
plus the drawings in the show were amazing!

Totally agree with above stated. See them in person. The surfaces are satiny and satisfying.

yah gpd is right. the flat colored surfaces were pretty cool too til you see those drwgs... then they seem just one step behind the drawings... i have a feeling that the next batch of paintings will come after those drwgs and go thru the roof.

i agree too w/ gpd about the surfaces and the drawings! (but jeez gpd, the whole point of this website is TO comment and if you havent seen the show yet it's obviously gonna be based on a jpg!)

isn't the point of this also to post work from good artists who are having shows so that people will go see the shows?
i mean, comment away but i don' think that anyone can really understand a painting from a jpeg. it seems like the smart course of action would be:
see jpeg
see show
then say something

yeah you are right gpd! i am new to this blog, really like it! reading it at work, totally am going to this show . is it still up?

gpd, this is not a show listing site. I am just posting painters in NYC that work here. It is nice when it works out that they have a show and I post them, then we have more to talk about. I don't think a jpg can tell the truth about the work either but it gives you an idea and it seems a lot of these bloggers have seen the artist work at some point.
