I saw this show at Gavin Brown I think. Pretty good stuff. I like his crazy perspectival paintings a la Scott Grodesky but his seem more haphazard which is better. It's a nice meeting of formalism and wierd personal subject matter...

oh yeah... i actually hated that painting in the Greater NY show. The plane is good though. how old is she?

i like the trippy background. what do you think she's up to with these?

Hey painter, do you know Allison Schulnik's work? I think she's pretty good and along these lines. I just don't know how attached this gal is to her subject matter... it's so diverse. It kind of depends on if you like the way she draws. In this pic she looks great, but in that hunting painting, her drawing looks bad in a common 'i'm just going to draw this' kind of way. not trying to be an asshole or anything that's just what i see in it...
Melissa Brown also has interesting work. halfway btwn painting and printmaking...

I didn't like the painting in Greater NY either and was surprised it was the same person but, I just like the little airplane. I don't have any idea what she is up to but there are some really nice moments. I like the ice skating one too.
Allison Schulnik is great. She is a California artist though. Not that we can't talk about CA artist it is just that I wish I could post her.
I want to find someone in L.A. to do painters L.A. with me.
