I would argue the opposite. Then I would say that an imagined reality is every bit as real as the "experienced" one, at least qualitatively, because both are staged in the mind, real or not. When the mind is the medium, printers will no longer need ink.

For example its fairly easy to buy a badger airbrush if you have the cash and then waste some paint on practice. Pretty soon you could be strenciling or freestyling the side of a van or someone's leather jacket.
In the seventies it was popular to paint vans - My friends and I called them "fantasy vans" and they often had a lifted roof. I think this comes out of hot rod culture, rat fink and vargas and all that. A popular scene was Lord of The Rings, which was HUGE to the egghead college population. People used to read, back in the day.
I'm more interested in what people have to say than how they express it, to the extent that the medium can be divorced from the message (see McCluhan) but also, its interesting to me to see on this blog and elsewhere people who bristle at the thought of addressing anything that is not explicitly IN the work as extraneous bullshit.
I used to think that - for example why talk about a work in its social an political context. But try holding an interesting conversation for ten years based on surface quality. Madness.
Yeah I remember that Soho show. That landed him in the Kertess curated biennial. Those were interesting. Did anyone see his last show at Petzel where he cut that gallery down to this triangle shape?
It was strange but interesting. It served the paintings (such as they are) well. What I mean by that is the painting and the environment worked together. It was sort of like a big comic strip in a way.
