lovely. lately I've become more interested in gestural painting again. and the feathery strokes here are so nice. i see that she has a show coming up in february at Petzel. will not want to miss.
it looks like a lot of her other work (from what i saw on the petzel website) had more color a couple of years ago. it's the kind of painting that needs to be seen in person i think.
That was a pretty rough painting show - the von heyl wasn't bad and the cecily brown was actually pretty good (?) but the schoolwerth, josh smith, blake rayne, and humphries paintings were god-awful!!! I was embarassed for the walls...

ReplyDeleteI like her work, but I don't love this piece. I saw it at E. Dee gallery. Maybe I just have an aversion to that gallery!

ReplyDeleteAgreed. I think her work is pretty gorgeous, love the direct, unashamed Ab Exness to it.
ReplyDeleteI saw this piece in person and thought it was a little too 'I rubbed my poo all over a canvas'...
ReplyDeleteha. did it smell? or was it all dried out and odorless?
