There's a pic in there of Liz sitting on the couch in her house w her doggie on her lap. What is she 75 years old? Hideous old fat witch with the most gorgeous Modigliani painting behind her, coffee table full of huge purple crystals in front of her. She pulls out an old picture of her kissing Richard Burton to show Michael Kors and she kisses the picture.

She's still got everything fake and everything real in one place.youth--lesshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04766715817815803423noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18710060.post-1154533563898350222006-08-02T11:46:00.000-04:002006-08-02T11:46:00.000-04:00Zip about Murakami. Almost as good as the gentleman I also saw on the 2 with a full length maroon fur coat, walking cane and (brown) Vuitton bag. All of us are upstaged. Excessive pedestals - Branchussi for example turned the pedestal into colonial sculpture.

altjmed'd be better off working larger instead. Take for example Ryan McGuines's AWESOMEly vapid mirror maze at Deitch - shallow, fashionable - but not much formally or even conceptually interesting -
whereas his more considered rebus-like paintings are at least fun to read - like concrete poetry. Who invented concrete poetry, for a dime?

As a caveat or whatever - commodity fetishism doesnt seem to be adressed very well in a white box gallery setting. Macys would make a much more powerfull statement, were one to actually believe their own hype.
Remember Claes Oldenburg's Store? So quaint.

Which is where takashi murakami might have been good, but then Canal street upstaged him by selling knockoffs. Or was he even thinking about that?

What is value anyway?

In conclusion, I've been going with the whole commodity thing - but in the end I dont think altjmeds work is about commodity for the artist anymore than Picasso's Guernica was about man's inhumanity to man, for example.
Or the other way around.
Readerly writerly butterfly nightly.
Public, private, Im on the outside. Wonder how people curtate their altjmeds.

How about all that global warming stuff? Remember when 30,000 people boiled to death in Europe 2003? No? Me neither.
