Help... please turn up the lights... I'm looking for the art and I can't find it...perhaps like a buffalo nickel of old it has fallen under the bed... nope...it's not there... surely one of you will help me in this quest to find meaning in this golden artistic fleece...please help me ... I am twenty-two inches tall and the only words I can see standing on my toes are: "silly" and "stupidity"...
advice... only one sean landers painting per gallery, please. Otherwise the whole enterprise looks like it's is trying too hard. But maybe that's the sad sad saaad saaaaad verbose point.
Hasn't it become insanely common to see text based works like these.... Sorry had to comment all that way from OZ, where I see this sort of work so often and unfortunately I find it a bit stale! Really enjoy your blog and the critics are 'painfully' honest:-)
I just walked into this show yesterday and it's proof that you can see a jpeg and know a show will be lame. I walked in and I walked out. Oh and can i say in the same day I saw the Dana Schutz show... It pains me to say it cuz I love great painting shows and pull for them but she is overrated!!!

These paintings look like someone else making Sean Landers paintings. Which, given Landers stance, may be a good thing, but as paintings, they blow.

ReplyDeleteoops the cheese stands alone!
ReplyDeletei love Sean Landers.
Some people say what they mean, others say what they don't mean. Honesty is when people say what they mean but aren't really mean, but say it anyway.
ReplyDeleteLanguage makes sense!
Landers is great and I like him too. But not this show.
ReplyDeletewhere can i see more of his work ?
ReplyDeletei googled him, but sometimes google "ain't all that" . . . .

Zhaozhou asked, "Have you eaten your meal?"
ReplyDeleteThe monk replied, "Yes, I have."
"Then go wash your bowl", said Zhaozhou.
