from the jpegs, I'm getting a somewhat cynical impression....It seems almost as if shes painting on top of a photograph rather than building up or creating her own system. How much better is the painting than the photo?
sort of fun to try to name the dozens and dozens of painters that this work seems derived from-ena swansea,dexter dalwood,elizabeth huey,some leipzigs,I know were not "supposed to do this but with so many ..hard to resist
Haven't seen the show... I'll go this week. The work on the gallery site seems pretty strong, architectural, nice space. This particular painting looks like Bonnard, but then the light is more contemporary, but then the comparison makes this work seem thinner than it would otherwise.
